USWNT vs China

The US Women’s National Team came to Houston in December and played at the awesome new Dynamo stadium downtown. As soon as this was announced I rounded up some of my fave soccer homies and got 3rd row tickets. The seats were amazing and the ladies played awesome as always; Beat China (at least at soccer we win).

Dynamo Game

A couple of weekends ago I went to a Dynamo game with some of my soccer ladies. While I like to make it out to at least one game a season, I've really got to get better at the whole going to the games before the dead of summer- it was hotttt. We had a good time despite the heat because we started the night off in the Budweiser tailgate! Yum. Dynamen came through with a win and I even got to see some UMD alum action when Jason Garey played for the last ~10 minutes, yay!

SCFA Regular Season Champs!

This post is over a month late, but my Friday night soccer team won the league for the regular season! We've started a summer season with a few more teams, so hopefully we'll keep the winning going :) Here's a post-game sweaty pic for your enjoyment:

Cinco De Mayo Soccer Tournament in San Antonio

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!! This past weekend was the Cinco de Mayo Soccer Tournament put on by SASA. I played with my Friday night coed team (the Comrades) and it was lots of fun! We went to Chuy's on Friday night as a bit of a team dinner once everyone had made it into town. Then Saturday was bracket play starting with our first game against a fellow Houston team. We ended up winning 1 game and getting 2 ties on Saturday to advance to the playoffs on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to a combo of very few subs, a redic first day schedule, and probably a bit of out of shape-ness we ended up losing our Sunday game and getting 3rd in the tournament. All in all it was a great time, good to see some different teams for once and get some really great competition. Here are some pictures from the weekend compliments of Gina (I was far too tired, sweaty, and preoccupied to properly operate a camera):

The serious level pain I experienced on Monday tells me I am no longer in excellent tournament shape, but I did survive the weekend so it's a win in my book :)

Baby Hannah with her Soccer Booties

I love to see the stuff I make on the little nugget recipients. the soccer booties I made awhile back were for one of my teammate's daughter, Hannah. I asked them to take some pictures of her wearing them and they totally delivered in spades! Here are just a few pics of her cuteness:

Hopefully that adorable face helps me sell some more booties on Etsy!

Soccer Baby Booties

Remember baby Hannah for whom I made the pink tag elephant? Well, her mom emailed me the other day to ask if I could make some baby soccer booties for her because the Sambas they have won't be fitting her for awhile. I am, of course, always happy to promote soccer at a young age so I was excited to start this project. I decided to make them similar to actual Sambas but without the trademarked adidas 3 stripes. Here are some pictures of the final product:

They are up on my Etsy store if you fancy a pair for your nugget!

Superfreaks

Another indoor season at Horizon has come to an end. And since we actually had the entire team at this last game we took a team pic afterwards (my apologies for the sweatiness):

Yay team!

P.S. We are looking for a new full time girl, so if you’re interested give me a holler!

Dallas Tourney

In case you didn't know I love soccer. Love love love soccer. I play as often as humanly possible. So when I was asked by one of my Gilruth teammates to play with her other coed team in a Dallas tournament I said yes immediately. Tournament soccer is especially exciting, higher intensity, and tons of fun. The coed cup was held in Plano, TX right outside of Dallas. We did quite well for a first out of town tournament together (especially considering we got bumped up a division for no reason). We won our first two games, lost the third of the round robin play. That put us in the playoffs and we ended up losing our first playoff game to the team that won our division. Not a bad showing! also exciting: this was my first trip to Dallas, or any Texas city other than Houston for that matter. We got turned around on our way back home and ended up driving past the Grassy Knoll! Very fun! Some pics:
