The Color Run 2013

I already did the Color Fun Fest with my soccer ladies, but we wanted to see how the original Color Run ran things, plus it was during the day and our first one was at night. We convinced a few more ladies to run this one and had a pretty good group. Unfortunately it ended up being a super cold and windy day and we were worried that we wouldn't get enough color. We needn't be worried, as you can see in these pics:

All pretty and clean before the run

Soooo many people, and this is just one of 3 flights

Check out these tutus

Fail on my part at the jump pic, congrats to everyone else

Getting a little leaf blower action to clean some of the color off

So colorful!!!

Had so much fun with these ladies, can't wait for our next run!

Houston 2012 Color Fun Fest

Last weekend I did the Color Fun Fest 5K with some soccer lady friends. We opted for the night run so we could get colored in neon! The whole idea is that you run through these color stations and get pelted with cornstarch that has been dyed different colors; in our case, neon colors. Then at the end there are black lights and everyone looks like they've been bathing in glow stick. Here we are before the race, all nice and white and clean:

The color stations along the way:

End of the race, covered in color!

I had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again next year, or the next time one comes through town. Everyone should find one and run it wit a big group!

Earth Day 5K

This past weekend I ran an Earth Day 5K with some of my friends here in Houston. It's a little early for Earth Day (April 22nd) but let's just call April Earth month and roll with it(I changed the blog background to recycle symbols for April aka Earth Month). The race started at Discovery Green downtown, and there was a huge Earth Day festival going on as well. The race was 'green event' where you were encouraged to carpool (we did), recycle your old sneakers (Erin did), water during the race was served up in biodegradable cups that were composted after the race, and the t-shirt for the race was made from organic cotton. We had a great time and would have liked to stroll the Expo more but the race was so early that most of the vendors weren't set up yet. Many thanks to Erin for finding the race and asking us to run with her! Here is our sweaty post-race group pic:

Race for the Cure

Race for the Cure was this past Saturday. There were about 30,000 runners participating in the Houston run, downtown was madness! Team Bippity Boppity Boobs met at the Houston Library before the race to get our team picture. By the time everyone was assembled and our photos were taken we had missed the start of the Competitive 5K, whoopsies. Start line:

We got to the start like to join the back of the non-competitive 5K. Needless to say there was lots of weaving and dodging involved with so many people, but the race was still fun. I even stopped to pet a baby bulldog who was walking along Allen Parkway, so cute! Here is a team picture after the race:

I want to thank everyone who donated to our team and supported breast cancer research! Team Bippity Boppity Boobs raised over $1400! After the race we decided to go to Crave Cupcakes in Uptown Park because they were selling cupcakes for a cure!

100% of the proceeds from a 6 pack of pink ribbon cupcakes goes to the Baylor Cancer Center. needless to say, I bought a box plus a delicious pumpkin cupcake for the road :)
